Mount Vernon Reviews
Rating 3.64 out of 5 91 reviews
I love the Older/ At-Home feel of the city itself. When you're here visiting or looking for somewhere to move, this city is a great place for friendly conversations and like-minded individuals that have their own lives yet still want to be part of a community. If you want solitude and quiet, there's areas that fit you perfectly. If you want social experiences, I recommend the center of the cit. If you want solitude yet somewhat social, I suggest West Side. If you want to have friendly neighbors that care about you and want to have relationships, East Side is a great fit. Want to be close to other cities and close to other friends and family? South Side had quick access to Interstate and Highway onramps. Everything about this city is everything I love to be a part of.
I was born in Mount Vernon Washington in 1983, it was a very different town back then. I believe it to be a safe town with simple people who work and tend to family. I enjoyed my upbringing, but yearned for more diversity and experience. By the time I was an adult, I had made the decision that this little town wasn’t for me. So I left! First stop was Eugene Oregon, where I studied at the local community college and experienced a city a bit bigger than mine, but it too wasn’t diverse enough for my curious mind. So after three years, I decided to head south, like the dirty south. New Orleans was exactly what I was looking for all of my adult life! I loved it so much, I spent the next 10 years there. Eating, dancing, and mingling with the locals and having the time of my life. Sadly, my Dad fell ill so I came home to be with him in hopes that he would regain his health. He didn’t and I made the decision to move back to my hometown, but with different perspective and point of view.
Mount Vernon is a city built on the backs of strong, hardworking families. From the fertile valley crops to the family-owned businesses, it's where you want to be on a Saturday afternoon. There are some conservative views that are being challenged by those moving in, which is refreshing. A town built well on traditional values, but still finding ways to adapt to the world's everchanging perspective.
