Growing up in Mount Pleasant, I loved the size of the town and location. It takes about 10 minutes to get from one end to the other. For location wise, we are about 30 minutes from Burlington, IA, which is bigger than Mount Pleasant and has more activities and stores. We are also less than an hour away from Iowa City, IA, which comes in handy for shopping, medical help, watching the Hawkeyes play at Kinnick and Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The town is very friendly, and if you grow up here and live here the rest of your life, you do get to know about everyone, but there always some people you don't know. There is enough in the town to be able to survive a pandemic, like right now. I also belive Mount Pleasant usually has realatively cheap gas. There is not much social life at night in MP. Usually, highschoolers will drive around town and on the gravel roads. It can get quite boring, but that is why Burlington, and Iowa city are good places to go to when looking for some fun.

I have lived in Mount Pleasant since 2011. I started middle school the year I moved. Everybody I was around was very welcoming and I made friends right away. I got involved in many activities throughout the years. I started sideline cheer, competition cheer, color guard, show choir, as well as concert band and choir. Mount Pleasant school systems have a wonderful music program.
My biggest complaint about Mount Pleasant is the lack of things to do for youth. My friends and I have to go out of town for restaurants, shopping and other activities.
I have really enjoyed living here for the most part. I have made invaluable friendships and have some great memories.
Mount Pleasant is a great place to work and live. We have great places to eat, a vibrant downtown, and multiple recreational opportunities. Our community boasts a great school system and a top notch division III university. Tourism in the fall brings a lot of people and money to the community every year during the annual Old Threshers Reunion.
