My husband and I enjoy the small town feel of the Clem! We have terrific neighbors and enjoy the local businesses downtown. The five star rating will come when the coffee shop opens! :) We also really dig the connections we've made through organizations like City Sneakers (the local running/walking club).
Overall living is peaceful and you are able to build relationships with your neighbors. The city is small and stores a very close by ( walking distance). The cost of living is affordable to families even with low income. Since the city is small most schools are in a different city or fall under a different school district but people who live here qualify for school of choice.
People are really friendly and it’s very clean outside on the streets. Your neighbors look out for one another. No one steals from each other. If something looks out of place we bring it to one another attention.
I like the downtown festivals, fireworks and gatherings. I would like safety in the bad neighborhoods increase. Currently I do not take my children to any of the events unless it's in the daytime. Police patrol the events but I feel they need more resources.
It's a good place to grow up not too. The perfect middle for a middle class citizen. We've got the hood and also a rich side. Whites blacks Asians and Mexicans love in all different areas but the town is typically very nice and peaceful
I grew up here there is a lot of history great old neighborhoods to ride a bicycle around I'm not too sure about how the schools are since they've changed since I've been out of school but I've always loved Mount Clemens I think it's a great place
The public schools in the area are below average. The restaurants are decent and depending on were you live with in the city, you may have a good experience or a loud one.
I really enjoy the old historic homes of Mount Clemens. I hope to see less rentals in the future and more homeowners. I would like to see more parks that are better maintained. I would also like to see downtown revitalized with new business.
I live here. So I know a lot that's going on. It has a lot of families living here as well as a lot of elderly people. The police often drive down our street. We do not have a police station. We are put into the Clinton township department. So it takes forever for them to come if you actually have an emergency.
Secure and together town. Peaceful and clean streets. Lots of local businesses down town. You can walk around the town with your kids and feel safe
Born and raised here. Love how everyone knows each other. If I could change anything, it would be having more activities and places for children and adults. I remember growing up, it was so much to do in the summer for us but not anymore
I love mount clemens area , the school was great i learned a great deal from going their. The neighborhood is nice and clean. The surrounding areas has nice places to shop and eat. People are polite , kind and great individually.
I guess I like that Mount Clemens is a small city. Everyone knows everyone. News travels fast. And the Macomb County Sheriffs are based out of MC as well.
Mount Clemens is a nice small neighborhood. From my experience the neighbors are friendly and can get along well. Like any neighborhood, there are some not so nice people, but overall it's okay. There's a park in the neighborhood and a Highschool.
I have been in Mt.Clemens my entire life. I have been apart of the community for 23 years and I wouldn't have wanted to grow up anywhere else. It is a small town with a nice mix of people. It has it good and bad areas, but what city doesn't? In recent years our city has been on a down fall due to Detroit residence moving out here. Even our schools have been negatively affected. I can say that we do live in a somewhat protected area. Especially, with having Macomb County Sheriffs and Clinton Twp Police; being that the two cities are so close. Altogether, I love my city and even though it may not be like it use to it's still home.
Mount Clemens is a gritty area filled with people fallen on hard times similar to Detroit, but less glorified. We don't have the best public services or schools, but you can be sure you'll find some of the hardest working people trying to make ends meet.
The police department is only a mile or so from where I live so that is great. The roads, however, are starting to crumble and haven't been worked on in years.
