I have been living in Mount Airy since I was born. The town, famous for the Andy Griffith Show, is rich in history, with museums, antique shops, and small eateries, evident along the downtown area of the city. One of my favorite places to go in Mount Airy is a little bookstore/cafe called Pages, where you can buy books, coffee, or smoothies (my favorite is the large, strawberry smoothie with extra whip cream) and sit by the big, glass windows and watch people walk down Main Street. Before the pandemic, I used to sit in the cafe for hours after school, before I went to work, and sip on my smoothie with my laptop on the table. I would finish up my homework before heading to my work (as a lifeguard and the local community center a few blocks over).
This is a quiet little town, the people here are nice. You can be walking or driving and multiple people with wave and smile. I have grew up here and to me it is just like the Song "MAYBERRY" sitting on the front porch drinking cherry coke.
Love this town!
Love this town!
I have lived in Mt. Airy all my life, it is a small town in NC known for Andy Griffith. The town is small so everybody knows everyone and what everybody is doing! Overall it is a good town to live in but since most of the Hosiery Mills have left the town is more of a ghost town and is focused on Tourism and not wanting to bring jobs back in. If I could change Mt. Airy I would give Hosiery Mills more incentives so jobs would come back.
