Growing up in a small town like the Morris area was great for a child. The school and the town is a safe place to be. Being a small town, Morris has a lot of school support. The teachers have the chance to know each student personally because of the schools relative small size. For this reason the Morris area is a good place to grow up. However, Morris is becoming a place that a kid can no longer grow up, go to college, and come back home to work and raise a family because there are no new industries starting up in the local area. Jobs with good pay including benefits are very scarce. There are a large number of Morris residents who commute to Tulsa or other surrounding cities for work. Most of the residents who work in the local area are people who own oil wells in the area. As a result of my experience growing up in the Morris area as a child and then returning as an adult I must give the town an average rating due to the lack of opportunities for jobs.
It’s a comfortable small town to grow up in, but exhibits many signs of a small town, such as closed-mindedness, lack of opportunity, etc. But, it also provides a close knit community and teachers that are willing to work with students (for the most part) that can allow them to take command of their education and truly grow. All in all, it’s a place that can be good for those who make the most of it, but the opposite is also true.
Very close community and safe place to live. Low crime rate. Schools are excellent. Everyone is very close nit. If they don't know you personally they know someone in your family.
