Moon Township is great if you’re looking for a calm suburb that feels smaller than it is. The school district is great, and there’s private schools nearby, too. It’s normal, though. I’m sure a lot of you are looking for normal, and if so, Moon is a great place! From the perspective of a high school student, though? It’s boring, and the biggest events are high school sports games (and the occasional very well made school play). A high school student will have to fill their time with extracurriculars and jobs, though, because the best places to hang out in Moon are Sheetz and, well, a friend’s house. It’s very safe, though, major crimes are so rare that they stay a major topic of discussion for AT LEAST a month.
Moon Township is a very nice area to live in. As an alumni of Moon Area High School, I can comfortably say that educationally, Moon Township provides a great education for students committed to getting the most out of public school. Aside from education, Moon Township has a variety of restaurants, supermarkets, gyms, and other daily conveniences. Additionally, Moon Township offers many safe and family-friendly neighborhoods, with housing at affordable prices.
A fantastic family friendly township with many activities for younger children. Moon park has recently been updated and there is even a place to play for those with special needs. The academics are great and a safe school to send your children too. Teachers are always willing to work with students from elementary to the senior high school. Also, it is not far from Pittsburgh so it is always fun to take a trip down for events happening there. Police and fire departments are always ready to help and fast. They also come into schools to do programs such as DARE and the Prom Crash which shows what can happen if you drink and drive. The community is lively and neighborhoods are amazing.
