I have grown up in Monticello all of my life. I have enjoyed living here. It is pretty peaceful being able to live in a rural, but not to rural place. Something that is a disadvantage is things to do. There is not many activities for kids or teenagers to do in Monticello. You have to travel to get to places like the movies, roller skating, or nicer places to eat. Overall, Monticello is a nice place to live if you enjoy living in a quite and peaceful town!
Everybody is very friendly helpful and courteous made me feel right at home. I used to spend my summers here as I was growing up and I haven’t seen much change really it seems that the lake brings a lot of people in during the summer which creates some traffic issues but all in all living here is been a great experience.
For small town, scenery is nice. Local access to Lake Cumberland. Library is brand new and has a great connection with the local community. Aspire center has a basketball court and an outdoor pool. Downtown has a great farmer's market for supporting the locals. To learn more about the history side - there is a wonderful history museum located downtown too.
