Monticello is a small town with lots of historical buildings with a family friendly environment. Our population is less than about 3,000 people with one public school system and one private school. We are known for the hometown of recording artist Trisha Yearwood. People laugh because we only have 2 red lights in our town but if you visit then I promise you won't be a stranger. You will feel welcomed, embraced & surely come back because we will leave a lasting first impression. You can call us small, call us country but don't forget to call us loving!

This town is very small having only 2 stop lights around the square. Finding a job here is impossible unless you are related to persons of business. There’s nothing for the kids to do, with only one after school program that picks and chooses who they let in. After 10pm you might as well go to bed because everything is closed. The hospital sucks, housing sucks, no descent available rentals for a young growing family. I would only recommend this town if you old retired and just want a quiet place to walk a dog.
As much as I love the small town feel Monticello has, it needs more things for young adults/teenagers to do. Growing up we never had anything to do which always led to trouble. I graduated ten years ago and literally not a single thing has changed besides us getting a Subway! It doesn't have to be anything extravagant but the town needs something fun to do!
