I actually really enjoy the quiet and tranquility of Monee. Neighbors are very friendly and helped my Mama and I when we first moved into the new town. There are always community events, such as, the Monee Fall Fest, the "Love Monee" operation, and many more. The only thing I would like to see change is an addition to a library and supermarket in Monee! Monee is engulfed in cornfields; therefore, everything is spaced out to the point where the nearest grocery is the next town over (Matteson, IL). As well as the library being a 15 to 20 minute drive in the opposite direction. Despite the lack of these things Monee is a very lovely and peaceful place to visit and live.
Monee is a quiet, calm, predominantly white and retired neighborhood with a truckstop off the expressway as the center of business. The schools are slowly degrading and the local high school is not as advanced and organized as surrounding high schools like Homewood Flossmoor or Lincolnway. There are not many places for young people to socialize and the truck stop is the only places in-town for young people to get hired. Minimun wage jobs are the only kind of local jobs unless you work in a warehouse or a truck stop. Commute is at least 20 minutes away from stores and food
Monee is a very small town with average schooling. Personally, I chose to go to a private school in a near by town because the school district is not great. There are many very good small business restaurants in Monee which is nice to have so close. One downside of living here is the commute. From school, to the grocery store, to the mall, to the gym is about 30 minutes. Overall, Monee is a pretty safe town with not a lot of ruckus and outside noise.
