Working in Monahans
I was born and raised in Monahans. A lot has changed over the years including the population. The oil boom has brought so many people into the town and there is only one grocery store with outrageous prices on the groceries. You have to go to the next town over to get groceries and anything that the grocery store does not sale. The "local" people are friendly which makes it nice. It used to be an everyone knows everyone town but that is no longer the case.
The town itself is ok but located a short drive from odessa a town with lots to do. However monahans itself it ok however dirty law enforcement they definitely make their own rules.
I have lived in Monahans most of my life. My favorite thing is the small town atmosphere. Our school system is top-notch and many of the educators are Christians I attend church with. One of the things I would change is providing more local jobs/careers that are not dependent on the oil business. The economy related to oil-related jobs is always a roller coaster and difficult when oil production slows.
