I love this town! My husband and I started looking for our first new home together and we both decided that we loved Mokena and have been living here since 2013. There are many paths, parks, and activities available to residents to promote a healthy living life style. Also, Mokena has a nice downtown area that appears to be building up. The only wish I have is that they would bring back their farmers market and continue to promote the downtown growth. That being though, my husband and I have been very happy with our choice of moving here!

Mokena is a very boring village, right in the middle of several other surrounding boring towns. As a teen living in Mokena, I can verify that there is absolutely nothing fun to do here. As a result, when my friends and I hang out we either travel 40 minutes to more exciting towns, drive around and loiter in cars and parking lots, or get into mischief, simply because there is nothing else to do. People wonder why we have the nickname “smokena”, and it’s because that’s about the only thing people can do in this town to escape from its smothering mediocrity.
Mokena has a small town vibe while still being centrally located! There is a metro station in town that goes straight to the city of Chicago and Mokena is close to the highway and several shopping centers. The mall in Orland park is also fairly close and easy to get to.
The schools in Mokena are very close to the public library and there are always crossing guards directing traffic. This, along with strong patrolling by the police, make Mokena a very safe place to live!
