The Mohawk Valley is completely encompassed by beautiful and breathtaking scenery. In only a few minutes, you can experience nature including ponds, lakes, woods, meadows, state parks, and a variety of wildlife. An abundance of outdoor activities can be experienced including swimming, hiking, biking, fishing, boating, hunting, four wheeling, going on nature walks, and observing animals. In the North, there is the Adirondack State Park and in the South there is the Catskills Park. Even closer to Mohawk are the unique views from Shoemaker Hill and Vickerman Hill just outside Mohawk. In addition, pollution is almost nonexistent due to the lack of big companies and factories.
Throughout the Mohawk Valley, and especially in the village of Mohawk, there are a variety of local restaurants that serve unique, interesting, and delicious cuisine. This type of food is not available anywhere else in the entire world. There are many dishes that blend different cultures together to provide unique and amazing tastes. These include Chicken Riggies, Greens, Half Moons, specialty pizzas, and much more. Although nightlife is limited to local restaurants and bars, the food here is unbelievable.
There are many small shops throughout the Mohawk Valley in which you can buy a variety of things. Even if you cannot get something, the city of Utica is only 20 minutes away. Here, there are even more small shops and a bigger shopping mall and shopping center. Closer to Mohawk, there are stores like Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Sears, Lowes, and Walmart. Since Mohawk is a small town, we rely on many small, individually owned stores, too.
