I'm not from here, but I moved here for school with my family. And so far, it is great. Everyone is nice and quiet which my family loves. They have some nice parks where me and my kids can go play.
I have grown up in Mitchell and have loved almost every part the things that i wished would change would be more diversity in almost every way.
What I like about Mitchell is the tight knit community and community support for local athletics at the high school and college level.
I like Mitchell and the colleges. The people here are very friendly, but I am from Sioux Falls and the drivers here aren't that great.
My experience so far in Mitchell has been great!! The people here in Mitchell are very nice and genuine and they make you feel welcome. I recently moved here about a month ago for school and I'm haveing a great time! I like that everyone in Mitchell looks out for one another when their neighbors go out of town or they observe things we don't see ourselves. If I could have one thing to change it would be the construction. They have made great progress and I am hoping it is finished by the time winter rolls around.
Mitchell is a great town for raising a family. Mitchell is big enough that it has a Walmart but it's small enough that traffic isn't bad and it's safe for your kids to play around the neighborhood.
I love living here because it's a small town about 70 miles away from Sioux Falls. There are fun activities here for children. I like to gamble and here is South Dakota there is no State taxes
They need more low income family priced recreational things for kids of all ages. Like a skating rink (roller blades and roller skates. They offer a lot for tourist but need to accommodated the low income family's and college students.
Mitchell is a quiet town. I would like to see more restaurants, like Buffalo Wild Wings. The lake needs to be cleaned and the town needs more job opportunities.
unfortunately there is a lot of crime and drugs in this small Midwestern town. There hasn't been much growth in the last 3-5 years, but a lot of businesses closing. If my boyfriends business wasn't here, (centrally located for his driving to and from job sites), we would be gone
The police are one block away and ready to act.
Good atmosphere with walking distance to businesses.
I love SD but not Mitchell. Moving to Sioux Falls.
The education for which I came to Mitchell School for is the best kind of quality education there is in my own experience anyways because not only do we learn all things in our classes but we get help when we don't understand and for me that's the best kind of school. The people here are amazing and nice to they are welcoming and hard working, I remember my first day here and someone showed me around the school and explained to me where all my classes are at. And still to this day we are good friend. The community help I get from Mitchell is outstanding with all the resources. My experience in Mitchell is fairly well and if I had to choose to move here again I would. The atmosphere in this area for the future is amazingly good because I know that in times of crisis we are going to be here for each other.
I have been living in Mitchell, South Dakota for 10 years and I love it here. The school systems are great and the overall community is very friendly. In Mitchell there are college and high school athletics for entertainment. The future looks very bright.
When I first moved here, I was very disappointed. The people were rude, the businesses were on their last legs, and the small town mentally was apparent. It's a fine place to retire but not a good place to start raising your family now.
The food here is usually pretty good.
