Lots of chain retail stores have a cozy town feeling, 15 minutes from the downtown area. Close to major highways, only downside is it is far from Oak Park Mall.
I enjoy living in mission, Kansas because I have a lot of resources at my finger tips. Within the time frame of five minutes, depending on what I want to do, I am able to go grocery shopping, post office, or eat out at the wonderful local restaurants. This of course is a great time saver to of set my commute to school, which takes me anywhere between forty-five to an hour depending on traffic, overall this takes two and a half to three hours of my day which I could have spent studying or doing something else useful. Therefore living in mission is a great thing because for everything else besides school usually doesn't take any time away from my day. Another great reason why I like living in Mission is because there are wonderful parks to go for walks at. It goes without saying that there are plenty of people that you can see on a sunny day exercising, this meaning that the community is very active.
I've only lived here for a couple months, but I'm really impressed by the location and how central it is to most of my commutes. I love the variety of shopping and restaurant options near my place. And it's simply a well kept, beautiful area.
Mission is becoming the Independence of Johnson county. Neighbors are getting worse, barking dogs, not keeping up houses/lots, general lack of respect for other's privacy and peace. The local law enforcement is only concerned about speeding tickets in school zones, and won't respond to nuisance or other city ordinance violations. Fewer and fewer decent places to eat or go for entertainment as more and more chain fast food joints move in, and big box stores. If considering Mission, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere in JoCo, Mission is quickly turning into a revolving door of renters, failing to maintain homes, parks, streets, irresponsible pet owners, and low class idiots.
I have since moved to neighboring Overland Park to be closer to work but I loved living in Mission for the 2 years I was there. It is an older part of the KC metro but it is a good kind of older. Lots of character and it is very well kept. There are a lot of new shops and restaurants being built and I love how close it is to other areas of the KC metro. I could be in downtown KC in 15 minutes or Olathe or Overland Park in 15-20. The only bad thing I would have to say about Mission is that there are cops everywhere here. You will see one on almost street corner which is annoying if you have a lead foot like me. It has a lot more charm and character than the bigger suburbs on the Kansas side. I would consider moving back to Mission in the future.
Mission is an excellent community to live in. Close to downtown Kansas City but it has a small town feel. There are several places to workout and lots of restaurants to choose from.
Great to have so many services within walking distance, but restaurant options are weak, and WAY to many fast food joints.
I have lived in Mission, KS for over 30 years and I love it. It's a suburb of Kansas City, so it's close to everything a metropolitan area has to offer, but it still keeps its small town atmosphere. Everything is within walking distance and there is a very low crime-rate. I raised my family here.
Crime is minimal and neighborhood is safe.
I love this area. I love my beautiful neighborhood, how close it is to so many wonderful parts of the city. I also love being within 30 minutes of our airport.
In our area there has been no crime or anything of that sort. There are police constantly driving around this area
The weather here in our area is definitely unpredictable at times but it's not too much of a concern. I think it's very common in our state.
Not to bad, its good.
Every fast food option is available. Local restaurants have mostly closed with just a few remaining.
Its the midwest. Minimal diversity.
It's not a large suburban area with cookie cutter housing. The houses are older, but have personal character. We are close to next door neighbors but have large yards.
