Working in Mishawaka
Although Mishawaka is a small town in northern Indiana, it has its own unique charm that many people, including myself, appreciate. It is a relatively safe place to live because of its low crime rates, and it is not congested like most bigger cities. There are plenty of local shops, retail stores, and restaurants in downtown Mishawaka and along the outskirts of South Bend. Mishawaka neighbors the city of South Bend, the home of the prestigious University of Notre Dame, as well as Elkhart, the industrial hub. Because of the closely neighboring cities, there are many different job opportunities. Most importantly, Mishawaka is always trying to improve their city by building affordable (or even luxurious) housing conditions and organizing big, fun events for everyone to enjoy. Mishawaka is quite diverse for being so small.
I love that Mishawaka is close to practically anything you could ever need. It is not too far from Chicago and Indianapolis. There are a ton of really great places to eat here! I wish there was more to do regarding fun activities! In Mishawaka, there is a great mall to shop at! Really though, my friends and I find it difficult to find something to do other than go to the movies or miniature golf. I love that Mishawaka is near South Bend, as that is where Notre Dame is and that attracts a lot of people to the area for football games and tailgating! There are also some great colleges in the area, like Bethel, IUSB, Saint Mary's, and Holy Cross, in addition to Notre Dame of course.
Mishawaka has been an awesome place to call home! I was born and raised and I have had great opportunities in the community. As I have excelled academically and socially, it has prepared me college. As I have gone off to Indiana State University, In their Aviation Program, I have achieved a 4.0 GPA for this first semester. I have worked hard and I am loving the opportunities to work toward getting my pilot private license by the end of this springs semester. Every time I fly, I realize how fortunate I have been. Along with tuition, room and board, I also acquire flight fees for this program. This scholarship would be most helpful to assist me in reaching my goals! I would love to make Mishawaka when I graduate from the ISU Professional Pilot Program. Being a part of the Mishawaka Junior Mayoral Council and volunteered for our community, during High School helped mold me into who I am today. I look forward to giving back to the place I call home, Mishawaka!
