I grew up in Mineral Wells, moved away when I got married and had kids. I've moved back now that I'm single and it's comforting to be back in a place where most people know you or you're connected by a mutual friend. It is definitely a small town vibe living here. Everything is close: gas stations, grocery stores, drug stores, dollar stores, post office, and police/fire stations. What I would like to see for this town is more growth. More shops, restaurants, and housing (not enough apartments or duplexes). Some philanthropists have started making improvements downtown, which is wonderful. But the Baker Hotel and the Crazy Water Hotel are both empty relics from the past; it'd be nice to see them renovated and come alive with activity. Also, the old Nazereth Hospital and the old base hospital at Fort Wolters could be turned into something. There's a lot of potential here.

Mineral Wells is a moderate size town with a small town feel. Business owners and patrons are familiar with one another and treat each other with respect and loyalty. The local authorities work hard to maintain clean streets and signage. There are always holiday decorations around town to help lift the mood. A negative is that some of the roads are in bad shape. There are several pot holes around town that either do not get filled or continually wash out. Some roads tend to flood during heavy rain, but this can happen anywhere. Overall the businesses are clean and offer any service you could need.
Mineral wells is a small town that is constantly improving from a bad reputation. There are currently efforts to revitalize the downtown area. A farmer's market was recently started and has added a breath of fresh air to the town. The Baker hotel looks large over the town but it seems people are getting away from that being the only thing that will save the town. I have had no issues with the schools. Our superintendent very obviously cares about the teachers and students and has done much to improve the schools in the last 4 years.
Mineral wells is about an hour west of FT. Worth so it's close without being crowded.
