Milton is a small, quiet town with a good variety of restaurants and a few fun wineries! It is only 15 minutes from the larger city of Janesville, so easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment. Lots of fun outdoor activity options since Milton is home to part of the Ice Age Trail and a paved bike trail that goes for miles.
I love Milton! It is very enjoyable from school to the people living in the town. One thing I would improve is the physical schools. They are older buildings and we finally passed the third referendum we have tried. Since a lot of our community is 50+ years old the school system does not affect them as much as the smaller amount of the younger generation. Since it is a small town the diversity and healthy living aren't as high as Madison Wi which is buzzing with gyms and people of all different back grounds.
Milton is a great, small community to raise your children. The public school system is one of the best in the state and consistently ranks among the best in Wisconsin, although facilities are some out outdated and funding is small thanks to a couple failed referendums in recent history. The community is very close where you will know many of your neighbors and run into someone you know every time you are out and about. Safety is also never a concern and crime just does not happen. Being a small time, however, there is not a lot to do in terms of nightlife, but Janesville, a larger neighboring town, is about a 10 minute drive and offers many shopping and dining options. Most people who live here commute to the Madison are for work which is about a 35-45 minute drive.
