Milledgeville is a small historic town with a junior college (GMC), a university (GC) and a technical college (CGTC) so there are several opportunities for students here to attend a college of their choice here in our small southern town. We have a local mall, theater, and many restaurants and grocery stores to choose from. We are located about 45 minutes from Macon and about an hour from Athens. Our local water attraction is Lake Sinclair where many people visit year round for the fishing and water sports. We have lots of historical sites here as well since Milledgeville was once the capital of Georgia. My local high school (GMC Prep) is the former capital site - great school! Many students who visit our military school often exclaim that we go to school in a "castle"! One of the many awesome things about Milledgeville!

Great history, political activism, and educational opportunities! Great little town! Lots of interesting places to work, live, or just visit. Home of Flannery O'Connor, Central State Hospital (the largest mental hospital in the country), Georgia College & State University, Georgia Military College, Lockerly Arboretum, and many more. Also one of the most haunted cities in the country.
Milledgeville is a great place, but it has bad people in the town. The town has improved over the years and look more modern. It was initially a historic town, but now it has moved to a college town. There are a few job opportunities. Milledgeville has several different fast food and dine-in restaurants. It also has a nice recreational park with a great view. The entertainment isn’t much, but miles does have a bowling alley, skating rink, and movie theater. Overall, its a great place to live.
