Mill Valley is so lovely! I grew up here and I am a current resident. The inhabitants are friendly, laid-back, and very health-focused. The restaurants are spectacular and the bike paths and hiking trails are superb, all with a beautiful view of Mt. Tam in the distance. Nature is everywhere: redwood forests, bubbling creeks, and flowers bursting into bloom in the spring. It is a beautiful, safe town, only 32 minutes from San Francisco. A great place to grow up.
Mill Valley is a gorgeous town that allows for a unique spread of opportunities. We neighbor San Francisco which allows for a city lifestyle if that is what you wish, while also being a small suburb that allows you to get away from city living. We are surrounded by a great range of nature and it is a wonderful privilege to experience the ocean and forest so close to each other. The people are extremely welcoming and provide a great local feeling. At times it feels like nothing is happening here which can make life a little monotonous, which is great if you enjoy a quiet lifestyle. As a teenager growing up here your experience is truly defined by the activities you participate.
25 minutes from San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay, yet in a Redwood forest town with extensive hiking right out your door, walk to the Euro-style town plaza coffee shops and arts etc. all about. I've lived here 31 years and find an unusually high proportion of neighbors willing to work for the common good locally and nationally. Our air is extraordinarily sweet and clean (Brezeomenter app.), and crime is low. There are many groups to join in political action, helping the less fortunate, the arts, the International Movie fest, sports and SPECTACULAR hiking. Historically white and with expensive housing, this is a town that fights for equality and dignity for all. A good place for progressives and well-educated people who want to engage with each other and the world. We are always shocked and saddened when we hear of towns where neighbors do not allow paths through to town or trails! A gem of a town, just too bad it is SO expensive to buy a home here
