I feel like the "community" feeling in the community is constantly growing whether from local churches or just individuals in the community. There are local events such as the county 4-H fair every year, First Fridays, which is an event held every first friday of some months around the square in downtown Marion around the courthouse, the Fly in Cruise in, which is held at the local airport including helicopter rides and a pancake breakfast, and local church events like handing out school supplies to the first 200 elementary students at the Splash House, the local water park, which is a free event.
There aren't many attractions, if there are any at all. There is a small mall that is slowly diminishing on the north side of town and there is only 1 bowling ally now, there used to be 3, there is a skating rink that is still going. The best part is the park on the north side of town. It is almost always being improved upon with a growing garden area and concerts in the park. Kids are always there and they always enjoy themselves. Another thing is around Christmas time the city put up Christmas light around the park, but people have to pay to see them and there is the Splash House, which is a small local water park that many people go to in the summer. It is nice; it has a wave pool, lazy river, 3 water slides, and a kid area.
Well, I live in Indiana so we are surrounded by corn and soybeans all of the time. There are no mountains or beaches in Marion, but there is a lot of woodlands for hunting and exploring. There is only one big park and it is just a city park on the north side of town with nature trails, a big garden area, shelters for parties and cookouts, tennis courts, and a basketball court along with the playground for children. The park itself is usually kept clean, but the nearby river is sometimes seen as polluted.
