We have lived there for 25 years in westfield the "quiet corner". True to its name its in the middle of everything. Easy access to all highways, every store and service you could imagine. Different areas of middletown have very different characterictics and I can only speak for the Westfield section. I wouldnt want to live near downtown, but its great to visit. Main street is vibrant. Great place for raising kids. Kidcity is a gem! There is a lot to do for free in the area. Crime statistics are different depending where you are, so I am only rating our area. Diversity very different in the elementary schools. I give our area high marks for healthy living because of the amount of farms in the area where you can get anything from duck eggs to beef.
There are quite a few restaurants downtown. There are a lot of types of cuisine to choose from. It's a suburb, but not too city like. Being able to get to the highway or grocery store in 5 minutes is awesome. Additionally, everyone at town hall is always super helpful!
Middletown is a good, middle class town in the Connecticut area. I like that it is a central location within the state, is close to the capital but also easily accessible to New York and Massachusetts. It is a relatively suburban community but there are both urban and rural areas. I would like to see Middletown offer more diversity in its food selection and invest in more large shopping venues.
