I love Merrionette Park! I have lived there all my life. It's a small town but has everything you need: grocery store, gas station, restaurants - what more could you ask for?!
Merrionette Park is nice and quiet, but too small. There are multiple baseball fields that the kids go and play on. The only thing we are known for is the club/restaurant called 115 Bourbon Street, which have a whole selection of food. On the weekends, people can be seated outside, eat and enjoy the night sky. When it gets cold, it's still busy, but a longer wait for a table inside. Around the elementary school we have speed limit signs keeping the children safe. On 119th St. there aren't many sidewalks, which sucks because I get extremely nervous when walking to the bus stop, I hear and feel the cars passing by. It's not too safe. When it is Spring, I don't mind walking in the grass (wet or dry), but when Winter comes...I am forced to walk in the small asphalt of a sidewalk they have in order not to sink in the snow. Some are near the condominiums, which is obvious. But after, the sidewalks disappear. With cemeteries all around, it creates a peaceful environment!
Merrionette Park makes me feel safe in the community knowing that the local police is always patrolling around the areas frequently. One thing that could be added onto the town is something recreational for the families and children.
