Housing isn't amazing. It's a college town so I think over time a lot of properties that were once nice, have now become run down or just rough looking on the outside. I know this is true because I have heard from others who have lived here for decades (aka much longer than I have). The availability and pricing is very good though, and very affordable. There are a decent bit of vacant lots and buildings though, probably because it's the country and no one notices or cares much like they would elsewhere.
It is not my favorite place to live. I love it for its beauty and space, especially because I am a photographer. Nevertheless, I am much more of a suburb/city girl. I feel as though opportunity is not vast here. There are two colleges, one a university, and one a smaller private school, that make the area have life and movement. However, overall, it feels pretty dead and just like any other small town in a rural setting. I am only here for my husband really, while he studies at the university.
There are events often because of the university. There is usually a fall festival though which draws in a lot of people. I think that most people are community through the school though. There are events on campus, sports games, etc. that a lot of people partake in.
