- Suburb of San Bernardino, CA

It is a small town in the outskirts of Redlands, CA. There is not much to do in this town which requires residents to visit neighboring cities in order to run simple errands.
I moved to Mentone from DTR in 2016 and I can say that it has it perks, but also has a few downsides. The good thing is, there are a lot of privately owned companies, quite a few of small churches, and a great rated high school. Although there are a few small eateries, there are not many well known food establishments. If one wants to buy some fast food, they usually have to go down to Downtown Redlands which is not that far of a drive, but is also not that of a convenience.
New pawn shops are increasing crime and orange groves are being taken down to build more track homes.
Mentone is very close to Redlands. Lots of orange groves. Family-friendly neighbors. Public schools are better than most. Good teachers who still love to teach. The parks are well kept and there are lots of nightlife streets filled with coffee shops and places to eat.
Despite its quaintness near the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains, Mentone demonstrates severe socioeconomic disparities in relation to adjacent locales.
Small town, not a lot to do, but it has all the basics and it's fairly quiet. The local schools are pretty decent. There is a bus route that runs along the main streets for easy access to public transportation. There are a few quaint restaurants, a pharmacy, and a grocery store.
Mentone is a pretty small town that no one in the Inland Empire notices. Recreation within the city is very limited because of its small size. It is neighboring Redlands, the main source of food and recreation. The only purpose of the city is for living in. Post-secondary institutions such as Crafton Hills College and the University of Redlands are in very close proximity. Redlands East Valley High School is where most high school students attend. The high density of low-income households and lack of streetlights in certain areas make the city feel unsafe sometimes.
My experience has been good. In Mentone its quiet and everyone is friendly. I feel safe walking around at night with my two kids. There are things that are walking distance such as; parks, grocery stores, and even restaurants. The only thing I would change is that there isn't enough green in the area.
Although the area I live in isn't in direct danger, crime is a prominent issue in many surrounding communities. The police are constantly raiding the area(s), and many times are hidden away. They respond quickly, but seem unreliable sometimes. Within the city, there is little actual crimes. Police sirens and helicopters occasionally rip through the streets, but not too often.
I rated the overall experience in the community that I live in as great. This is a very broad and general way to rate anybody's area where they live. However, my personal experience of living in Mentone has gone through many seasons, and I currently find it to be great because of the people. You could take away everything and just leave the people who have become like family to me and I would still rate it as great. God has reasons for where you are right now in life, and it goes beyond the physical place where you call home, but reaches and touches emotional levels of hearts and lives.
This area of Mentone seems to have been retaining it's value. Very little crime that I have witnessed, besides some "tagging". I would choose to live here again if I could to it over I would. The reason for this would be that it is a quiet area, with little crime close to good schools, and churches.
An Excellant place to live and raise a family.
There are many shops to visit as well as diner to eat at. Although there are many stores they don't tend to stay open very late which doesn't allow the citizens to fully enjoy the quality of the atmoshpere.
The employment rate in this area is less than average. Most people in this area are pretty much professionals, doctors, lawyers, nurses, businessman/woman. Top employers are Home depot, Lowes, and three major hospitals. Most people do for living varies. Those three hospitals have a lot of nurses working for them
Popular stores are okay and serve well in this community. Not only we still have some mom-and=pop stores in this area, we also have a variety of stores to get almost everything we need in this area.
Not a lot of crime in this area, For people safety, police is usually pretty much on top of that. I rarely see any police here in Mentone, however they ususlly pretty quick on any emergency.
The nature outdoor in this area is okay. So people in this area is always active because of nearby parks and the mountain. The maintenance of the parks and other public place are well kept. The pollution in this area are much less because we are close to the mountain.
