A beautiful place to grow up! Community and fun are easy to find with all the events. People are always biking and walking around. However, and understandably so as an old beach town, it is not always handicap accessible. Overall very great to raise a family!
When you drive into Medford Lakes you turn back the clock to a time when neighbors were close friends, kids ride their bikes to school, streets were safe, residents gladly volunteered to help in school and town initiatives, and if kids get into mischief their parents march them down to apologize and make them clean up their mess. On top of that everyone has access to private beaches in an idyllic lake setting which makes coming home after work feel like you’re on vacation. There are big events every year, too, a favorite is the Canoe Carnival which sports large floats paddled around the lake which are more like Disney on a Lake - amazing structures with sound systems, stage lighting, dancers and special effects all balanced by engineers on two long canoes. Everyone is friendly and you can walk to a row of shops that are housed in log cabins. This town should be rated much higher than Niche rates it.
What a welcoming community. Great for families, great for relaxing and quiet. Great for biking with a solo cup!
