Very strange vibe, unlike any place I have lived... A Portland wanna-be hipster, old money, nouveau riche, tired old hippies, ultra red-neck, angry, uneducated, impatient, coarse, intolerant, and many times impolite simply because they can be cross. Lots of poverty, and a feeling of decline permeates the air despite luke-warm attempts to counter its post-industrial heritage, and a real freak-show can be had for the price of a downtown stroll... To include plenty of tweekers, other openly drug addled, and extremely unhealthful appearing folks.

Very reckless drivers speeding like mad endanger pedestrians, and tailgate unlike anyplace I have experienced for the size of the town. Live near the "pet food plant", and rejoice in my dog just barfed up his lunch aroma. Corruption, apathy, old boys network. One bright star in this dark, and dreary place is Allegheny College, but since it basically owns the town, it greatly impacts tax costs for real estate. Soon be seen in the rear-view.

Meadville has a variety of restaurants to visit, including Mexican and Chinese, and several local specialty places like 'Eddie's Footlong Hot Dogs', which are some of the best, and the frozen custard shoppe farther down 322 towards Conneaut Lake. They have a few breweries, one of my favorites is VooDoo Brewery, where they don't have TVs and use old-fashioned doors for tables. There are plenty of places to find a vehicle, new or used, and to get it serviced. Street Track 'N' Trail (a Harley Davidson shop) sells motorcycles and parts and tires for all sorts of bikes. 'The Movies at Meadville' sits at the corner of 19 and 322, always has has a variety of movies for families or younger folks to come and see. There are plenty of places to eat in Meadville, I will never tire of the food in that town!
Meadville has the small town feeling with many of the perks of larger cities, from multiple shopping areas to movie theaters and many different ethnic groups. Located next to I-79, we are just 40 minutes away from Erie and 90 minutes away from Pittsburgh. Being in Crawford County, owning a home is much more affordable. The Meadville Area Recreational Center has a skating rink in the winter along with many other enjoyable activities. Public and private schools are available and the local YMCA has 2 different locations. Beautiful French Creek offers activities such as fishing and kayaking. There is much to do here.
