People say that you never appreciate where you came from until you leave and come back. Having gone to college, and not being home that often, I have realized how many opportunities Butler has. The cultural growth in things like the symphony, art museums, Main Street concerts, and small shops make it seem quaint. If the government of the town could deal with their own shady infrastructure and also the growing inner city drug problem, things might be better.
The police do not have a grip on the inner city issues such as drugs and alcohol, violence and domestic issues at all. They also do not respond to issues in the better parts of town that could present as bigger issues later, such as children deliberately blocking traffic, trespassing, harassment, etc.
Again, it depends on where you are in town; if you are in the town or the township. Township homes are very nice in some places, but in the city there is a lot of impoverished living that can be seen.
