Mayaguez is my home town. I born and raised here. Is not the best place to live because is noise, but in comparison with the other main cities in Puerto Rico is better. I think that is better because of the traffic and the people are gentle and humble. It have everything that big cities has, but easy going. Is a good place when you set yourself here.

It has a bit of everything, lots of shopping and eating options. Has lots of options for going out, such as movie theaters. The tiresome part of the town is the traffic.
There are countless restaurants which offer t local cuisine as well as fusion cuisine. The main cuisine here is seafood oriented. There is a strip of restaurants in front of the beach that offer great food with a great view. There is a general lack of ethnic food restaurants in the area (Mexican, Thailand, Arabic etc.), however the creative take on local cuisine does not allow for a dull moment when eating out. Since this is a college town, there are various bars and clubs, it is worthy to note that these establishments only cater to students.
