The town of Matoaca housed is the great county of Chesterfield. is a great place to live. Although it is mostly rural, parts of it definitely have a feel of spacey suburbs. This town borders on the Appomattox River and is less than 15 minutes away from the cities of Colonial Heights and Petersburg, and less than 25 miles away from Richmond, the capital of Virginia. It also gives you great access to I-85, I-95, 288, and 295. The town hosts several historic points. There are changes some underway now and some that have failed such as having one public elementary school which is constantly overcrowded ( will change) , no apartments and no full grocery stores (no change expected). It no longer has any bus routes nearby. However, if you want a taste of what quiet rural life, this is your place.
Great town but needs cleaning up. Most people know each other and it’s fairly nice. Mostly have to drive out of town for shopping and groceries.
Matoaca is very well kept, quiet, and convenient. The residents are friendly and the neighborhoods are nice. It's small, yet spacious.
