Overall, it's a very safe place to live, and the fall foliage is absolutely stunning. It's great for kids to go out and play. However, if you are not outdoorsy, there is nothing. Then nearest town is a half-hour drive. We can't even get eggs and milk here because the gas station closed. If you love to bike and hike, great- but if you want to be able to just catch a bus to go to the store, you're out of luck.
The population is somewhere in the hundreds, and a decent chunk of that is older people. Most people say that there's nothing in town, but we have ice cream and a few hiking/snowmobile trails, which is good enough for me!
(Going with Keene for this page, since in Marlow, we have ice cream. That's it.) But Keene has a handful of pretty good diners and restaurants. Some are a bit pricey, others are moderately priced. But there's several that I would go to multiple times, and recommend to friends. I love Panera. There's a couple of places on Main St that are pretty good (the names are escaping me at the moment) but for a small city, there are a lot of options for food, and all of the one's I've been to are yummy.
