A small town only about 5-10 minutes from Monterey! There is a funny mix of college students from CSUMB and cute families. They have a small farmer's market every Sunday which is always fun to check out and the beach is super close! I adore all the little hole in the wall restaurants, they have some great, Poke, Vietnamese food, Japanese food, and Korean food. Living there is relatively cheaper than some other areas which are easy to get to if you want more things to check out! Overall I say it is worth living in Marina if you need affordable housing in the Monterey area.
Marina is a very friendly and small city in the Monterey Bay Peninsula. Because it is very small, there is a saying that everyone knows everyone. Neighborhoods are most likely the friendly type and are willing to help one another. There are many different cultural backgrounds that come in here which is why the community is known to be very diverse. One thing that could change is most likely the attractions. Because this city is very wholesome and small, there aren't big attractions for tourists to come especially due to the fact that it isn't a tourist spot, but if it were to be, the beach would be the only one.
It is an unassuming town near Salinas and Monterey. For many it is a commuter town where they would go to work in the Salinas or Monterey area. There are some crime but not as far as I know a lot. Housing prices are better than they would be closer to or in Monterey. There are a lot of shopping centers and a somewhat small farmer's market every Sunday or so. It is close to the ocean so one can take a walk to the ocean or play on the beach. There are not that many parks in the city, the main one is a small lake's wetland.
