Marietta is really small and old area. The downtwon which is the city is like 4 blockes, and 10 minutes walking from the college campus. Since, it's small and less populated, there are no services that would distract a student. It's really quite and not a lot distractions, so it's considered good place to study. But, sometimes it's the reverse when student can't have some fun sometimes, unless you are that type of fit person. It's 2 hours from Coulmbus and almost the same from Pittsuburg, PA. It's northeast state so it snows considerably in the winter. Overall it depends on the person.

Marietta is a wonderfully historic place. The land office where all land from the Northwest Territory was purchased is still standing at our Campus Martius Museum. Marietta also has two beautiful rivers - the Muskingham and the Ohio. Our city has four distinct seasons and all of them are lovely. We have Marietta College here which is a boon to our town. Not only is the campus well kept and absolutely glorious in the spring, but it adds to our diversity. Our college has many international exchange students and add more culture to our city. Our local shops downtown are definitely worth the visit all year, but the store front windows are decadent at Christmastime. They are best viewed from a horse-drawn carriage tour offered on Front Street.
Personally, I was born and raised in Marietta Ohio. My whole life I grew up in a very conservative home, much like the town itself. However, now that I am older I attend a very liberal college, Marietta College. It has opened my eyes to a whole new world. I have learned to be a creative thinker and have had the opportunity to work with students from all over the world.
