Maquoketa Reviews
Rating 3.5 out of 5 4 reviews
A quiet little Bedroom community with an up and coming Main Street. A sit down movie theater on Main Street and a drive in movie theater if you follow Main Street till it ends. Really historic homes, lots of art and theater and live music. A huge cave system to explore. Lots of outdoor activities, kayaking, fishing, race track and friendly people. I love this small town!
It's your average Iowa town. They have a state park, Maquoketa Caves, which is pretty great. Also, there are some good places to eat.
Overall, Maquoketa is a quiet town with it's own personal charms. The Jackson County Fair always brings in people, the schools are wonderful and the towns-folk are kind. The Atmosphere is welcoming and gives off a "cute-little-town" vibe, one that I would choose all over again. From other places I have lived, Maquoketa does not compare, for it is small but decent sized, everyone is close and knows each other, and it has the only name Maquoketa in the world.
