Gig Harbor is great for the elderly, white, and republican population of the world. There is almost no diversity, no non-conservative views, and no youth. With the lack of activities for young people a lot find recreation in drugs and partying. Also a 10 minute drive to get from Target to Fred Meyers is quite a pain. On top of the extra driving, it costs us $5-7 dollars just to cross the bridge, where most of our jobs are.
I feel fairly safe for the most part, but when something happens I hear of no progress from police. For example, someone a few streets up got robbed but was able to catch security footage of the car. Police were notified, but the public has heard no word if they caught the culprit or not.
Gig Harbor is a "uppity" town. There are pros and cons to the local businesses, such as some retail stores cost more, but overall, Gig Harbor is a pleasant town with plenty of variety shops. Finding affordable rent space tong around start a business is easy. There are several mom and pop stores in the old-town downtown area, with more refined stores in Gig Harbor's uptown. There's a shop for everything you need around Gig Harbor.
