To those who feel excluded in maple valley, you are not alone! Please stay. We can do better, together.
You're absolutely right in observing a need for more character & integrity based behavior around town.
On the plus side, it's resiliance and perseverance that are needed to build successful people. People and families like you. The truth is : it's people of color and those who are excluded that already hold these skills. The older locals know this and it's putting their children behind. They need time and space to adjust. Please stay, there are families here who welcome diversity and the strength it brings to our community.

I am 22 years old and I moved to Maple Valley when I was 10. I have seen Maple Valley through its growth over the years and have come to love every single part of it! The neighborhoods and the community amenities are at a high if you are looking into raising a family. Bike trails, community library activities, extracurricular activities offered from the school, and so much more to explore! Which brings me to our schools; the Tahoma school district. It is rated one of the best in WA, if you do your research you will see for yourself. I had the opportunity to experience this school district first hand, from elementary school all the way up to high school graduation. The teachers, the system, it's structure, and the college preparation that this school district offers has helped me grow throughout my college life. If you want a new place to feel "at home" with your growing family, head on over to Maple Valley!
Every city has it ups and downs. My parents moved to this city over thirty years ago. To this day I still hear stories of how there use to be only a single restaurant and gas station for miles around. To this day we have apartments going everywhere and a Starbucks on every block. The construction of dozens of business have brought many people to our city over the years. In turn, this has created a community. I love going to the local parks in the weekend and watching the mothers and fathers push their kiddos on the swings! No other place will ever truly feel like home.
