I am 22 years old and I moved to Maple Valley when I was 10. I have seen Maple Valley through its growth over the years and have come to love every single part of it! The neighborhoods and the community amenities are at a high if you are looking into raising a family. Bike trails, community library activities, extracurricular activities offered from the school, and so much more to explore! Which brings me to our schools; the Tahoma school district. It is rated one of the best in WA, if you do your research you will see for yourself. I had the opportunity to experience this school district first hand, from elementary school all the way up to high school graduation. The teachers, the system, it's structure, and the college preparation that this school district offers has helped me grow throughout my college life. If you want a new place to feel "at home" with your growing family, head on over to Maple Valley!

Honestly, I didn't mind the lack of diversity but as long as everyone minded their our own business then it is all good. After a few days of moving here, neighbors, stores, and restaurants were staring down my family as we weren't the same race as them. For the first few days, we were really uncomfortable and tried our best to ignore the stares but stares became glares. Not only that, whenever my kids came out to play, I would notice parents would be cautious of my kids and I. What also annoyed me was the Tahoma School District. When we tried to sign up, the district lost my kid's application and never spoke back to us when they promised they would. Maybe it was a slight minor mistake but what would've happen overwise if I WAS caucasian? If you hadn't noticed already, my family is not Caucasian but Asian sadly. I would rate it as average for its overall livability but being treated like this isn't considered as average. In all honesty, it would've been better to NOT move at all.
There is not much to do in this little bedroom community. The entire city is based on tearing down forests and building unnecessary residential complexes. This town's community Facebook page has proven to ridicule residents, spread fake news and act as a network for adult bullying. It says something about the adult residents when the students at the local high school are ashamed of what their neighbors say about each other online. If one were to count going to Fred Myers as 'nightlife' then they are in luck. Maple Valley does not really have anything great other than their school district, which is undeniably one of the best districts in the area. However, other than that people really only live here so they are close to everything else outside of the city.
