Love the small town charm but at the same time would love to see more for the teens to do. The shops are geared toward tourists because we live in a resort area but there are limited affordable restaurants and absolutely no activities for young ones to participate in that don't cost an arm and a leg . Great place to visit or to live in for an older retired couple. Has a safe feel to it even though there is plenty that goes on behind the scenes but all in all I feel comfortable letting my children walk or ride their bikes outside of the neighborhood during daylight. Manteo is a healthy mix of people from all backgrounds, races and classes. Everyone knows everyone and the community itself has each others back. When one person or family is struggling we all come together to lift up and support those in need. I work for the school system and my four children are attending the same schools I went through so I have nothing but positive things to say about the education provided here.
Manteo is a nice place. It's a small town that very friendly. It's a very calm place. If you like going to church then you're in luck there's many churches in Manteo. If you have kids there's many parks to go to or you could take them downtown and spend family time there. There are many beaches not far from Manteo. The schools here are great. The hi9gh school here has a variety of clubs, courses, and sports to choose from. The middle school and elementary schools are also great. It's a family place. At times there may not be much to do though and it can be boring besides that I'd say it's a very good place to live
I love Manteo. It's a small 3 or 4 mile island with an elementary, middle, and high school. Everybody knows everybody. It doesn't take long to figure out the way Manteo runs, everything is kept simple and everyone gets along. Downtown Manteo is famous for not only historic sights, but family businesses as well. When I graduate with a business degree, my mother and I want to open our own small bakery on the harbor in Downtown Manteo.
