Working in Mankato
I like Mankato, but I do think that it could be more diverse. The population is primarily white and most of them are conservative. The only liberal and diverse groups that live here are on the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato. I hope that the minorities and liberals that do live here are not harassed for being outside the status quo. Even with everything that has been going on lately with protests, the only protests in Mankato was a group that gathered on the bridge near the freeway; and even then it was mostly college-age individuals that were there.
I absolutely love Mankato! It’s the perfect size town, not too big and not too small. There are many restaurants, gyms, and other places of business that are great. The town is very clean and well kept almost all the time. People really take pride in their community here and you can tell by their lawns, homes, and places of business are very pristine. The only thing I would change are the drivers. I know we don’t live in a world where that can happen, but almost every day I get super close to getting hit or I have to do some very defensive driving. It’s not just because of the college kids either, it’s people of all ages.
I love the town of Mankato. It is very welcoming and a perfect size. This town has everything I need and more! It has parks, shopping, food, coffee shops, etc. I am very happy that I can call this town home. I would not change anything about Mankato.
