Manhattan, KS is my hometown. I am 27 and have spent 23 years of my life here. I attended Manhattan High School and had a great, enriching experience! I also went on to attend Kansas State University. I have been involved in music here my whole life, and can speak to the richness of the art culture here. Manhattan strives to be a unique, innovative and friendly place for those coming to this transitional town. I call it transitional because the KSU students, soldiers from the nearby military base (Fort Riley), and graduates create as much if not more of our population than families that are actually from the area.
Manhattan is a wonderful place to live and work. If transportation is an issue for you, no problem! The city of Manhattan, Kansas has you covered with their multiple means of transportation. You can either ride the ATA bus (free for students) or use "Green Apple Bikes" provided by the city of Manhattan. Those bikes are free to use and you can ride them throughout the entire city. Anywhere you would like to go in Manhattan is relatively close and everyone is super friendly!
The town of Manhattan is a small town with a big town feel. The college atmosphere makes it a fun town on game days yet the town itself is extremely safe. I moved from the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and it was quite a change from the hustle and bustle of city life. The town is quiet and comfortable to live in. Jobs are on the rise as we are building the National Agribio-defense complex on the Kansas State campus. There are lakes and trails to enjoy outdoor activities as well as the beautiful Konza prairie. Manhattan is located in the beautiful flint hills region of Kansas. The people in Manhattan are the best! They make you feel so relaxed and welcome. The future is bright for Manhattan, Kansas.
