I attend Pepperdine University in Malibu. While the area's proximity to the beach and remoteness makes it quite safe from crime, there is limited public transportation which makes it difficult to live there if one doesn't have a car. It is also quite vulnerable to wildfires and the canyons are quite dangerous to drive through.

Although the city is very conservative, they are less judging on liberalism. They are all about building a community. The beach is there biggest monument. Some of the historical content behind it is lovely. The city is very private. The plazas and stores are definitely people friendly. And that's odd because, nearby cities such as Brent wood or Santa Monica are more judgmental & those cities are more liberals? It's really the perfect city to get away from the BIG city and just relax & enjoy in peace.
Malibu is an extremely tight-knit community--you are welcomed with open arms, and it is extremely easy to integrate into different niches. It's the most beautiful place I've ever lived in, and the experience has been nothing but positive.
