I loved growing up in Makawao. It is such a beautiful, old, small, rodeo town. I've made life-long friendships, and have always been proud that I've grown up there. It's been a routine to go to Komoda bakery for the butter rolls and long johns, and Minit Stop for the mini chicken katsu. I could walk through a cow pasture to get from one friends house to another. I wouldn't change much about this town, keep it the way it is!

Makawao is a friendly community. There is public elementary and middle school which are in close proximity to each other. There are also several private schools. There is a a public library close to shops as well as churches. On certain days of the week, there is a farmer's market where local farmers sell goods. There is also an event similar to a fair once a month on a Friday night for families to spend time and people to gather. It's a very safe and diverse community. There is also public transportation and a lot of stops around town.
Makawao is a beautiful historic cowboy town! A lot of small shops filled with local artisan work, a variety of eats from sushi to Mexican, a community park for dogs, weekly live music events, a monthly town party for the whole family polo games on Sunday's and a yearly 4th of July rodeo! You might catch a local cowgirl taking a ride down Makawao Avenue! The people are kind, the neighborhoods safe and the weather is lovely and warm most of the year with winter showers that keep the town green!
