Maize is a safe, clean, and has lots of jobs for high school students like myself. One thing that I have to critique about Maize is the amount of diversity is very limited, but thankfully it is something that the community is working towards growing. Although the teachers are amazing, the schools are kind of dirty and not well kept. This small suburb of Wichita is family friendly with lots of things for small kids to go and do like the amazing YMCA that is truly for every shape, color, age, and size. Moving here form Katy Texas was a huge change, it is a more laid back rural setting. Overall I could see myself not only raising a family, but also retiring here. The schools are challenging, and there are lots of K-12 sports programs for every kind of kid.
Maize is a community that adults and children describe their friends. It is a place for new opportunities. In Maize, you'll find that there are many aspects of an urban city while still having the feel and comfort of a small, rural community. Maize is an area of growth. It does not stay in one place, and neither do the people that occupy it. They're constantly adapting to make the community the best it can be. I like the air of comfort I feel when I'm in the city. The schools are filled with overall driven and passionate teachers who care about the future of not just Maize but America. Maize is not perfect, though. The lack of diversity can be a problem. When you visit or live in an area, you want to see all types of people represented. This is an aspect that I think could use improvement: Making the city more accessible and welcoming.
