I haven't really been here that long. But I'm from Florida and I love the beach and water, not really lakes. I would never swim in the lakes here. But it comfortable cozy little town. The drive to all the major stores and stuff is only a 20 minute drive. My husband and I go hiking a lot and there are lots of places to do that her and in the surrounding areas.
In the past eight years, a variety of small businesses have come and gone. Except for a chain pizza place, automotive shop, gas station, and library all the others have gone out of business. The ones that didn't last were a very nice fitness center, formal dress shop, small coffee house, convenience store, quilt shop. An antique shop that is still in business, but not thriving. There are continuously rumors about a grocery store, and that would be a break from the gas stations over priced milk.
My estimate for the percentage of adults who are employed OUTSIDE my town is 85%. About 30 minutes away is a neighboring city with very good economy with many job opportunities. Inside the town people are employed in the school district, that few previously stated businesses, or are farmers.
