Madison is a jewel in North Alabama! Small town feel with lots of small independently owned restaurants , yet many chain restaurants and more coming in regularly. Small business owners compete well with big box stores here. Great place for raising a family or independent living. Plenty of very nice apartment complexes as well as new homes being built all aroundMadison. You can own acres or just take care of a small plot of land. Choices are many! Food is great and breweries are just as unique. The location of Madison is awesome! One hour from Nashville and right next door to Huntsville, home of the Space and Rocket Center. There are no shortages of jobs here. Part-time work or full-time employment for everyone. There is a wonderful mix of cultures here as well as age groups and Madison caters to us all! You will enjoy four seasons here. A very light winter and if it gets to hot in the summer, you are only a few hours from the Coast. Spend a weekend. Then you will want to move here!
I originally did not want to move to Alabama just because of the societal stereotypes surrounding the state. However, Madison completely threw me for a loop. It doesn't even feel like we are in Alabama. The weather is great majority of the time and everyone is so genuine. I love how pet friendly the town is and I really enjoy all of the new restaurants and stores being put up. Since Madison is growing so quickly theres new things to try with every turn. I can't wait to see how it continues to grow!
While Madison has nice homes and a nice area. One thing makes it horrible to me. The roads are terrible. To get to the interstate or highway you must travel one of the long roads in-between which has low speed limits (cops patrol heavily) lots of traffic. They have not advanced their roads to deal with the influx of people. I dread driving through Madison and avoid it! Wall Triana, Hughes and Slaughter rd. Are the three main rds. Look on a map there are tons of lights and tons of people. Which make what should be a 10 minute drive 30 minutes. They need a parkway. If you are moving to the area Hampton Cove is the nicest area. Harvest is nice but a lot of tornados go through there. Athens is great. Also Whitesburg around Martin road (southeast side) is great.
