Madison Heights is a satellite of Lynchburg and a curious blend of poor and middle-class suburban neighborhoods and semi-rural areas. The US-29 and 29-Business arteries make communing anywhere in the Lynchburg area a snap.

There are few parks and the roads are poorly maintained, but the schools are good and the cost of living is low. There are limited jobs and few interesting places to shop, but all the essentials are available and for the rest Lynchburg is close.

My family and I moved to Madison Heights because it was a smaller town that offered more affordable living. Madison Heights also offers places to grocery shop or to grab a quick bite to eat without having to drive far from home. Madison Heights is also just a small drive away from the larger cities that boast multiple shops, restaurants, and family oriented things to do. The atmosphere makes Madison Heights a nice place to raise my family. Madison Heights could benefit from the addition of public playgrounds and parks so that the family can get out and be more active without having to drive far more than a few miles from home.
Madison Heights is a small bedroom community of LYnchburg. Housing is very affordable. Excellent medical care is available just a few miles away in Lynchburg. University of Virginia Medicla Center is only an hour away for superior care, as well. The area is wooded and has many local shops selling everything from trinkets to tractors.
