We moved to Madeira for the excellent schools. We thought we’d had our kids in excellent schools before we moved here but Madeira was far above anything school district we’ve ever experienced. So while the schools brought us here, the community will keep us! We live on a long cul de sac street and it’s been amazing to meet so many neighbors. The street is always getting together and everyone is so friendly—I guess that’s why they call it the friendly town! We adore Madeira and would recommend it to anyone but especially perfect for families with kids!
Madeira is a great city to live in for families. I have never felt unsafe walking alone (day or night) living here at any age. It's very convenient to have a small downtown area that contains a grocery store, pharmacies, coffee shops, boutiques, salons, restaurants, and many small businesses with minutes to seconds from each other. While the school system could definitely use a lot of improvement when it comes to students' access to mental health resources and the way social conflicts are addressed, the curriculum is fantastic for preparing a student that is looking to seek higher education upon graduation.
Madeira is a great small town for every type of life style. The school system there is phenomenal from K-12 with many students going on to attend prestigious universities. This does make the school very hyper competitive though which can be hard for some students. There are also a variety of activities in the summer for families like free summer concerts, Shakespeare in the park, and the wiffle ball league. There is also a great sense of community with everyone in the town. Everyone comes out for the football games on Friday nights in the falls and is always there to help each other in their time of need. Overall, Madeira is a great small town to live in.
