I’ve grown up in Macon and I’ve watched it grow and become what it is today. The city has gotten so much better and since I’m now almost eighteen, I can really see the change within the city. Now, I can understand what residents of the city have had to put into so many projects to make Macon what it is today. Everyone has made it great!

Big employers left years ago, leaving many neighborhoods abandoned. Armed robberies and attempted/successful homicides are significant. Public schools are among the lowest in the state. We rented during our residency. We would not have purchased a home here, however it would have been quite affordable.
I love that Macon is working on being more culturally aware. It is a small town but it has a rich history which you can get to know about if you take the time to do so. I would recommend visiting the Tubman Museum which has great customer service and also the GA Sports Hall of Fame. There are several colleges in the area as well so you can always meet new people and if you attend "First Friday" you can get a taste of the night life. It is very easy to network if you attend events in the area. And don't forget about the food! There are many tasty restaurants to eat at downtown and you don't have to break the bank to do do either!
