The local government needs to invest more in the welfare of the city of Macon. I have lived there for the past year, and have witnessed up close the departure of businesses, stores, and establishments that once provided jobs to residents. As a result, there has been a recent increase in violence and insecurity in the communities. Also, personally, it's becoming a struggle to find fun things to do unlike before. However, I admire a few new roads that have been built, and it keeps me hopeful that Macon will become restored to its former glory!
Macon is a city of a lot of ups and downs. While there is a lot of crime with some very bad neighborhoods in bad places, there are other neighborhoods that are some of the best out there. It is a bit of a moderate city, but if you want to live in a pretty good place in a good small city in the South, this is the place to be. This city has a very bright future!
Contingent on where you live in Macon it’s not always safe or convenient. Some parts are very convenient while other parts are less safe and less convenient. I am in a safer area but have to strategically prepare myself during the school year to avoid traffic. I also don’t have access to all the food places I like by delivery as several of the places won’t deliver to me unless I use certain delivery apps which up charge and don’t allow me to use my coupons or points. There is also not a lot to do here. There are bars and they are opening more businesses but usually safety is the issue. There has been an increase in crimes and shooting so I rarely ever go out in the evenings. The churches and schools are okay. They do a lot of community service activities and outreach. Some even have counseling services. This is not the most Walker friendly place. Some areas are alright, but many do not have sidewalks or places for you to safely walk or bike. There are very few places open late.
