Ludlow is a very tight-knit city that has primarily a Portuguese culture. There are a lot of fun festivals such as Festa and Celebrate Ludlow that are great for younger generations to attend. There are plenty of parks and a beautiful walkway along the river and down by the mills. The town pond is open only to residents to swim. All of the major "necessities" store wise are located at most 5-10 mins from the farthest edge of Ludlow. The schoolsystems are nice and a brand new elementary school is being built as we speak.
There are a few downsides to Ludlow. If you are not Portugese or highly Polish they tend to look a little down on you. There are a bunch of last names that are considered to be "important" and if you don't have a last name like that people tend not to care what you have to say. This town is also, fairly conservative in their views so if you have more democratic and liberal views you may not want to bring up politics.

I have grown up in Ludlow and have great experiences with the town. It is good for families and very safe for Kids to ride their bikes around town. Ludlow is a great town for families with active kids, as the parks are clean and safe for kids to play in.I would recommend Ludlow for any family based on the welcoming environment and safe feeling of the community. It also has many housing options for the elderly between the private housing and the busy senior center. The options for the elderly and safe environment for children combine to create an overall great community to raise a family.
Ludlow is a busy and bustling town. They've got all the amenities you could need while also neighboring very close to other cities in Western Ma. The school systems a decent as well. Though it's fairly expensive to live there. This is also a fairly conservative town in regards to issues, policies, and regulations.
