Very happy, friendly township full of amazing people. Lots of fun things to do outside and inside! The public school system in the area is phenomenal along with the short driving distances to nearby attractions and activities.
Lower Salford is not a good place to live. Most of the roads are rural and are a ward of Penn Dot. Penn dot allows flooding on all the roads without proper drainage. The area is in serious need of a storm water drain. The state pushes it to the county which is managed by employees waiting to retire and do nothing to resolve the issue. Many houses have had contaminated water for years and nothing has ever been done to resolve the issue. Public water and sewer is needed. It seems to be a tax embezzled area in which the taxes are greasing pockets and not not used to maintain the area. I would happily pay more taxes to have public sewer and water. The drainage on my road is supposed to drain to a man made pond on a neighbor's lawn who I am sure is receiving compensation in some method. The drainage does not flow to the pond and floods the entire road. It is a very poorly managed stormwater area.
I've moved to harleysville Aug 2019 and really love the community and ease access to nearby cities and plenty restaurants to pick from. The only disappointment and this is coming from my 8,10 year old kids is that Oak Ridge Elementary School is not challenging enough academic wise and are bit behind in teaching method. Teachers don't go above and beyond recognize kids that excel in class and bump them up advance or gifted program.. Which not sure offered. I've ended up getting workbooks at home keep my kids interested. My kids use to go to parkland school district in South Whitehall Lehigh Valley and they love the method teaching using core math. This school does not use this system and thus feel behind 8 ball. Disappointed public school system... Not sure why it's rated high.
