We were military for 23 years and we retired in PA due to my husband's career change. The East Penn School District is A++ and my kids absolutely love it. The schools are safe, clean, and solid with plenty of STEM Education and Clubs & Activities for the kids. However, despite the fact Macungie is a pretty clean and safe area, we have met nicer people through our travels and not many people like change around here. Everything is OLD. Business is slow. House hunting is the WORST. Tons of 1970 homes and too many condos/townhomes. Railroad tracks all over and trains blow the whistle 24/7! Family fun is low, mostly for families with little kids, but nothing to do for teens or families with older kids. Healthy Living here is horrible! This area has more commercials and health centers for cancer than I care to count. Health providers push medication and drugs on EVERYONE for EVERYTHING! Lastly, this state has serious problems with Radon Gas in homes which is the highest risk for cancer!

We have lived in LMucungie Twp for 3 years and have found it to be peaceful and comfortable and yet a little rural where we live. We have seen deer and red foxes out and about from our patio doors. Beautiful! Weather is good and seasons are distributed evenly every three months. Not bad at all !
I grew up in the Lower Macungie Township and it was an experience I will never forget. There is always something to do. Dorney Park, the Lehigh Valley mall, and the Promenades are all close by. Jersey Shores and New York are also close enough for a memorable family day trip. Neighborhoods are also great for new families and the schools are rated nicely. Commuting to work is not a problem and neither is heading to the supermarket. However if you are someone who is not raising a family this might not be the area to live.
