Sleepy little Louisburg is waking up, especially with the widening of the road from Raleigh to Louisburg, slated to be completed within the next 4 years. New businesses are starting to arrive: an independently-owned coffee shop; a brewery; and a new boutique hotel is going up downtown, as well as a new restaurant. As far as the school system: not very good, but improvements in the education system will surely happen with growth. More positives: friendly community; good choice of churches; great real estate opportunities; and Louisburg College offers a nice diversity of interesting folks living in the area. Most importantly, the people in Louisburg are super-nice and proud of their town's history. In general, I'd say that if you're looking for a small town (far enough from the city to offer a different way of life, yet not so far that you can't make easy weekly jaunts to meet with friends or do shopping) with a sure and promising future, now's the time to think about Louisburg.

You could live in the #1 rated city in the US and still be miserable. As with any place, Louisburg is what you make of it. It's the main town in a largely farming county, yet still only seats 3,500 people. While fast food chains along the highway are in no short supply, the downtown is fairly quiet with a single bar, coffee shop, and a handful of sweepstakes. The lack of traditional entertainment cannot be stressed enough, but for an outdoorsy girl such as myself, there are a sufficient amount parks and trails at my disposal. As a final word, Louisburg provides that small town feel, though is still within a manageable driving distance of the city.
I live in Bunn NC, but I have a Louisburg address. So I guess you can say that I live in Louisburg. It's just your normal small town. Not much to do. About 10-15 restaurants. They do have a community college and Louisburg College. No night life of anything exciting happening. I love that in smaller towns everyone pretty much knows everyone else.
